BRAC University Hosts Alumni Iftar 2026

Dhaka, 8 March 2026: BRAC University hosted its Alumni Iftar on 8 March 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall of the Merul Badda campus. The program was organized by the Office of Career Services and Alumni Relations (OCSAR) as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen alumni engagement and connections with the university community.

The gathering brought together a vibrant group of alumni who returned to their alma mater to reconnect, share memories, and celebrate the spirit of community during the holy month of Ramadan.

Alumni from different graduating batches attended the event, including three alumni from the university’s first batch. Their presence made the evening special as they shared reflections from the early days of the university and their memories of both the Mohakhali and Residential campuses.

The event was attended by several distinguished members of the university leadership, including Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar, PhD, Vice-Chancellor; Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, PhD, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Professor Mohammad Mujibul Haque, PhD, Dean of BRAC Business School; Dr. David Dowland, Registrar, Professor Shaila Sultana, PhD, Director, BRAC Institute of Languages; Professor Wasiqur Rahman Khan, PhD, Chairperson, Department of Economics and Social Sciences; Rubana Ahmed, PhD, Proctor; and Ms. Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director, Student Life; along with other faculty members and administrative officials.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director of Student Life, outlined the university’s ongoing alumni initiatives and engagement plans. She encouraged all alumni to activate their online alumni profiles to stay updated and explore opportunities and university updates. She also announced the first-ever Alumni Reunion marking the university’s Silver Jubilee and invited alumni to participate in the celebration. The reunion will be held on 8 May 2026 at the Merul Badda campus and will feature several engaging segments including a live band performance, a kids’ zone organized by BRAC Institute of Educational Development (BIED), alumni sports, panel discussions, and other activities.

Dr. David Dowland, Registrar of BRAC University, thanked the alumni for joining the Iftar gathering and encouraged greater alumni involvement in university initiatives. He also highlighted the growing global alumni network and mentioned recent alumni meet-ups organized by the Alumni Relations Office in New York and London.

Professor Mohammad Mujibul Haque, PhD, Dean of BRAC Business School, welcomed the alumni and emphasized the importance of maintaining meaningful connections with the alma mater. He encouraged alumni to share their professional experience and industry knowledge to help strengthen the university’s academic curriculum and make it more industry-oriented.

Ms. Shahreen Srabon Tilottoma, an alumna of the School of Law and President of Law Alumni Association of BRAC University (LAABRACU), shared her insights on alumni initiatives and highlighted how law alumni are contributing to society through their professional and social work. She also appreciated the university’s growing alumni engagement efforts.

Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, PhD, Pro Vice-Chancellor, spoke about the importance of alumni engagement and highlighted how strong interpersonal relationships among alumni can contribute to both professional and institutional growth.

In his remarks, Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar, PhD, Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University, expressed his gratitude to the alumni for returning to their alma mater and sharing the spirit of togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan.

The evening concluded with a special Dua led by Professor Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, PhD, SFHEA, Director of the Leadership and Innovation Centre for Teaching and Learning (LICT). In his prayer, he remembered the alumni community and prayed for the continued success of their initiatives and contributions to society.

The event was hosted by Mr. Forhad Hossain, Manager, Alumni Relations, who also presented a short audio-visual recap of the previous Alumni Iftar.

The gathering turned into a lively afternoon that gradually blended into the evening as alumni spent time around the campus, reconnecting with friends and capturing memories that quickly appeared on social media.

Carrying the spirit of their alma mater, the alumni left the campus looking forward to meeting again at the upcoming BRAC University Alumni Reunion on 8 May 2026.
