From BRAC University to Oxford: Fahim Abrar Abid Appointed as an OXIO Rapporteur
BRAC University School of Law Alumnus Fahim Abrar Abid Appointed Rapporteur at Oxford International Organizations (OXIO). BRAC University School of Law proudly celebrates the achievement of its alumnus, Fahim Abrar Abid, who has been appointed as a Rapporteur at Oxford International Organizations (OXIO). OXIO is a leading platform under Oxford Public International Law, published by Oxford University Press, dedicated to the analysis of the practice of international organizations.
Fahim is an emerging public international lawyer from Bangladesh and the Founder of the Bangladesh Society of International Law. Following his graduation with High Distinction from BRAC University, he was awarded the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s scholarship in International Law of Global Security, Peace and Development. Through this programme, he pursued advanced studies at the University of Glasgow (United Kingdom), Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (Spain), and the University of Tartu (Estonia).
During his time at BRAC University, Fahim demonstrated exceptional academic performance and actively engaged in co-curricular excellence. He represented the university at the International Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in the United States. He was also a recipient of the Open Society University Network (OSUN) Scholarship, under which he completed an academic exchange at Central European University in Austria. In addition, he secured competitive research funding to lead a project focused on developing legal education curriculum in Bangladesh. Fahim’s research interests include international human rights law, climate change, and global governance. His scholarly work has been published by leading academic publishers, including Oxford University Press, Brill, Routledge, Springer, and Sage. Alongside his academic contributions, he regularly provides expert opinions on refugee and asylum matters in legal proceedings in the United Kingdom and the United States, supporting evidence-based legal practice.
In his new role at OXIO, Fahim will contribute expert headnotes analyzing key instruments of international organizations, with particular emphasis on institutional processes and global governance. He is especially committed to advancing Global South perspectives in international law and contributing to critical discussions on climate justice, human rights, and institutional accountability. This appointment marks a significant milestone in Fahim’s professional journey and reflects the strength of BRAC University’s legal education in nurturing globally engaged legal scholars and practitioners.
